The Holy Name of Jesus

Month of January

January Holy Name of Jesus 2 1

“So that at Jesus’ name every knee must bend in the heavens, on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim to the glory of God the Father: Jesus Christ is Lord” ~ Philippians (2:10-11).

The name of Jesus is sacred and calls to mind who He is. Evoking the Holy Name of Jesus provides graces to us. We are exhorted in Scripture to pray in the name of Jesus. “Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Col 3:17).

The Archangel Gabriel first spoke the name of Jesus to His mother Mary: “Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus” (Luke 1:31). This was the name given to Christ by God the Father.

The name of Jesus is uttered in prayer, used to command demons, and to proclaim Him to the world. Reciting His name is powerful and gives you strength.
