How to Homeschool in Arizona
It’s easy to homeschool in Arizona! Follow these steps to get started:
1. File a one-time affidavit of intent to homeschool with the county school superintendent.
2. Provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
3. Teach the required subjects of reading, grammar, math, social studies, and science. You may use any curriculum of your choice.
4. File a letter of termination if you stop homeschooling or move out of the county. If you begin again, you must file another notice of intent.

Arizona Families for Home Education
Arizona Families for Home Education (AFHE) is the statewide organization that has been serving the needs and protecting the rights of Arizona’s homeschooling families since 1983. AFHE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational, religious, and charitable corporation run by a Christian board of directors. AFHE membership supports the preservation of homeschool freedom and watches watch legislation that may affect parents’ rights to teach their children at home in Arizona.

Holy Family Home Educators is a homeschooling support group for the greater Tucson area and Southern Arizona. Members are homeschooling families who seek to follow Jesus Christ in a Catholic Christian way of life through social, educational, and religious activities. HFHE exists to provide strength, unity and confidence to all who endeavor to live a Catholic way of life in union with the Magisterium of Holy Mother Church. They offer park days, liturgical celebrations, field trips, clubs and co-ops, service opportunities, and advice and support.
Sacred Heart Home Educators

Sacred Heart Home Educators (SHHE) is an association of Catholic families in the state of Arizona loyal to the Holy Father and the teaching authority of the Catholic Church. It is dedicated to inspiring, guiding, and encouraging families striving to live authentic Catholic lives through home education. Membership is open to all families with students in Kindergarten thru 12th grade. Although the group is statewide, most members reside in the metropolitan Phoenix area. They are an independent group of lay Catholics affiliated with the Diocese of Phoenix.

Homeschool Co-Op San Jose Sanchez del Rio – IVE Phoenix Homeschool

This co-op serves Spanish-speaking Catholic homeschool families in the Phoenix area. They meet at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish twice a week. Participants include families and priests and sisters of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word. They focus on authentic Catholic formation and learning and socialization opportunities for students. Spanish language site.
St. Catherine of Siena Homeschool Apostolate

Regina Caeli is a hybrid program offering a classical education model with both classroom and homeschool components. This homeschool hybrid model for grades preK to 12th grade allows students to attend classes by grade level at their local campus on Mondays and Thursdays, with learning at home during the remainder of the week. There are also opportunities for extracurricular activities and field trips.

Rocky Mountain Catholic Home Educators Conference

This annual conference is independent and local, bringing in speakers from around the country. Featured speakers for 2023 include Maureen Wittmann of Homeschool Connections, Kerri Davison of Holy Heroes, Sara Masarik, and Ana Braga-Henebry. Conference attendees can browse through the vendors hall, go to workshops and talks, and network with other homeschoolers.
