Catholic Homeschooling in Alabama
How to Homeschool in Alabama
In Alabama, there are three options for homeschooling:
1. Homeschooling with a church school is operated as a ministry of a local church or group of churches. Instruction may be solely in the home.
2. Homeschooling with a private school with an option for the student to receive all instruction in the home.Â
3. Homeschooling using a private tutor. Tutors must be Alabama-certified teachers.
Compulsory school ages are 6-17 and notification is required. There are no testing requirements and no state mandated subjects. Some mandated teacher qualifications are required in option 3. There are only immunization requirements in option 2.
