Prayers to St. Anthony

Prayers to St. Anthony

Tony, Tony, come around.
Something’s lost and must be found!

St. Anthony is known as “The Patron of Lost Things.” Why? Well, there is a story about St. Anthony that tells of a novice in his order who stole a book of Psalms of his. St. Anthony could not find it and prayed to God for its return. The novice then came to him with the stolen book and returned it.

Pray for his intercession to find what you are missing. Whether the item is found or God, in his goodness and wisdom, directs you to something else, you will surely have your prayers answered when you ask for St. Anthony’s help.

Prayer to St. Anthony

In Search of Lost Items

St. Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus,
who received from God the special power of restoring lost things,
grant that I may find (name the lost object) which has been lost.

At least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind,
the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss.
To this favor I ask another of you:
that I may always remain in possession of the true good which is God.
Let me rather lose all things than lose God, my supreme good.
Let me never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure,
eternal life with God.

Amen

Saint Anthony's Blessing

Behold, the Cross of the Lord!
Begone, all evil powers!
The Lion of the tribe of Judah,
The Root of David, has conquered!
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Amen

Prayer to St. Anthony of Padua

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints,
your love for God and charity for his creatures
made you worthy, when on earth,
to possess miraculous powers.

Encouraged by this thought,
I implore you to obtain for me (your intention).
O gentle and loving St. Anthony,
whose heart was ever full of human sympathy,
whisper my petition into the ears
of the sweet Infant Jesus,
who loved to be folded in your arms,
and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.

Amen
