To homeschool in Vermont, you need to take the following steps:

1. Send a written enrollment notice each year.

2. Submit a narrative, a detailed outline with a description of your course of study for each subject for the year.

3. Receive an acknowledgment of compliance from the secretary of education.

4. Teach the required subjects of reading, writing, citizenship, history, government, physical education, health, literature, natural sciences, and the fine arts.

5. Conduct and submit an annual assessment.

All students in Vermont must be enrolled at an approved public or independent school or enroll in a home study program in which the family is responsible for educating the students.
