How to Homeschool in Minnesota
To comply with homeschool laws in Minnesota, follow these steps:
1. Submit notification of your intent to homeschool each year.
2. Provide a qualified teacher. Parents are automatically qualified. Teachers other than a parent must have a Minnesota teaching license and be supervised.
3. Teach the required subjects of reading, writing, literature, fine arts, math, science, history, geography, economics, government, citizenship, health, and physical education.
4. Keep records of schedules, materials, and class test results.
5. Conduct a yearly evaluation using a standardized achievement test.

Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA)
HSLDA is the nation’s largest homeschool advocacy organization. They protect the rights of homeschoolers in court, advocate for homeschool freedom in state legislatures, and work to advance homeschooling in the public arena.
Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE)
MACHE is a statewide organization for parents how have chosen to home educate their children. They partner with Minnesota homeschoolers to inspire, equip, and protect homeschool freedoms through year round events, publications, newsletters, resource partnerships, and legislative monitoring with member updates.
Minnesota Homeschoolers’ Alliance (MHA)
This is a secular statewide homeschool organization that offers resources and works to protect homeschooling rights in the state.
Home-Based Educators’ Accrediting Association
HBEAA was formed to provide accountability, guidance, and encouragement to homeschooling families. In our homeschool accrediting program, each participating homeschool gains “accredited status” after completing the criteria as set forth in our standards and policies. Our accrediting association is recognized by the State of Minnesota under the auspices of the Nonpublic Education Council.

Classically Catholic Memory Co-op

Classically Catholic Memory is a memory work program that is both Catholic and classical in nature. It is designed for children ages 5 through 12, and each year of the program provides 18 weeks of memory work in each subject. CCM is run as a co-op model.
Corpus Christi Home Educators Cooperative

This co-op meets at Saint Bonaventure Catholic Community in Bloomington. They support families in Catholic home education by providing opportunities for students to build relationships and for parents to share information and experiences.

This enrichment program meets at St. Joseph Parish in Lino Lakes. They provide standard and honors classes to students in grades 7-12 using a classical Great Books-based Roman Catholic curriculum. Students meet one, two, or three days a week for a variety of classes. Subjects include art, mathematics, languages, literature, history, science, and more.
